We’re so excited to introduce the newest member of the Takilberan family, Miss Arna!

Arna is a gorgeous two-year-old traditional black-and-white Border Collie—such a timeless beauty, and a colour combination I’ve always loved. But it’s her sweet, loving nature that truly makes her shine. She’s a cuddle champion, always ready to snuggle, and has already brought so much joy into our lives.

Of course, Arna has her little quirks—storms make her uneasy, and she’s not a fan of the beard clippers my husband uses… And the vacuum? Let’s just say that’s not her favourite either. But she’s a total sweetheart who’s amazing with our puppies, showing so much gentleness and patience with them.

Merlo Has Found His Perfect Home!

Yesterday, I took Merlo to Lismore to meet Liz, Matthew, and their two lovely children. The plan was simply a meet-and-greet to see if they were compatible, but the moment the kids laid eyes on Merlo, it was love at first sight. There was no way he wasn’t going home with them! Their smiles said it all.

I’m overjoyed that Merlo has found such a wonderful, loving family. They live on acreage, giving him plenty of space to explore and thrive, and they will provide him with an amazing life full of love and adventure.

I want to thank everyone who expressed interest in Merlo. I spoke with several incredible families who would have also made wonderful homes for him. I feel so lucky to have such a kind and supportive community of followers who share my passion for these beautiful dogs.

The icing on the cake is that Liz’s sister Kath and her family will soon be welcoming Jaffa into their lives! Merlo and Jaffa are half-brothers, both sired by Bailey. Merlo is Lexi’s son, and Jaffa is Sunny’s son, making them family in more ways than one.

It warms my heart knowing that these two brothers will be a part of such caring and connected families.

Merlo Has Found His Perfect Home!

Merlo (previously nicknamed Rusty) is the son of Lexi and Bailey, bred by us at Takilberan Border Collies. He is desexed and ready to settle into a loving new home. His current human Mumma describes him as a gentle soul who is fantastic with people and other animals.

• Gentle and friendly: Gets along well with everyone he meets, including other dogs and even cats.

I don’t share much of my private life here, but I couldn’t resist this moment. My baby girl is growing up so quickly! Last night we celebrated her Year Six Graduation Dinner, and it was such a special milestone.

It’s hard to believe my youngest is almost finished with her primary years. I’m so proud of the amazing person she’s becoming… even when she’s being a bit of a rat 🐀☺️.

Time really does fly!!!

Prince Casper’s First Night Update

Jenny has shared a wonderful update this morning about how Prince Casper (his fancy new name!) settled in during his first night at his forever home.

This adventurous boy had a blast exploring Jenny’s home, checking out mum’s closed-off rooms, including the bedroom, lounge, TV area, and bathroom. His late-night antics even included some “Pilates reformer practice,” resulting in a 2am clang clang wake-up call for Jenny. After some snuggles on the couch, Casper fell asleep on her lap, only to move to the bed a bit later.

A slight “oops” moment followed when he rolled off the bed while sleeping at Jenny’s feet, but this laid-back guy just plopped onto the floor and went right back to sleep. Casper’s bathroom manners are already impressive—no accidents inside, and he waited until morning to do his business outside like a champ.

He’s making up for his nighttime explorations by catching up on sleep today, moving from spot to spot to find the comfiest nap location. And with a hearty appetite, it’s clear why this big boy is growing so well!

*“Hi there! I’m growing so fast and always up to a bit of mischief. My mum’s shoes make the best chew toys—who needs all the actual toys they’ve bought me anyway? It’s like giving a kid a present and they just play with the wrapping!

I love life, so I’m an early riser—5:30am is wake-up time. If my parents aren’t ready, I just head back to my bed (which is also a pretty great chew toy).

Frankie and I are getting along so well! We spend most of our time playing, though I might steal her toys now and then. She’s super sweet and lets me play with them.

Food? I can’t get enough of it. Swimming? No way! Mum tried to take us for a swim, but I wasn’t having it—four legs, not fins, thank you very much.

Life is good, and I’m making the most of it!”* 🥰

While in Casino dropping off Casper, I had the chance to catch up with my cousin Peashell and her two gorgeous Takilberan Border Collies, Huxley and Alfie(?). These two beautiful boys play so well together and are such good company for one another, quickly becoming the best of friends and the sweetest of brothers. Huxley is already so well-trained, and Alfie(?) is following in his footsteps, learning the ropes like a champ.

Today we said goodbye to Casper, and what a bittersweet moment it was. After a morning bath and a light breakfast, the much-anticipated wait was over as Casper finally met Jenny and Stephen. We met in Casino, and it was love at first sight. The emotion on Jenny’s face was simply beautiful—her joy said it all.

Jenny remarked how much more stunning Casper is in real life compared to his photos (and while I think I take a decent photo (sometimes 😜), I have to agree—the puppies are always cuter in person!).

Jenny and Stephen travelled back to Coraki with Casper and have already shared how well he’s settled in. He’s enjoyed some food and treats, with no whingeing or moaning—just a very content little boy resting on his bed. Casper is already proving to be a fantastic traveller, lying down, having a sleep, chewing on a toy, or just taking in the sights without any fuss.

We’re going to miss this beautiful boy, who’s been one of the most laid-back puppies in the litter—a little bit like his half brother, Big Al (now Teddy). It warms my heart knowing Casper is off to such a loving home where, as Jenny said, he’ll be treated like a king.

An Early Farewell for Sweet Kyah 🐾✈️

It was an early start at the Takilberan household today, as Kyah (formerly Freckles) and I set off on the long drive to Brisbane Airport for her big journey to Canberra, where her forever humans, Jasmine and Alex, were eagerly waiting. Our usual farewell routine began last night with a nice bath, a nail trim, and plenty of extra cuddles.

When it came time to settle in her crate at the airport, Kyah was calm and content, waiting patiently for her flight. Jasmine shared that after her delayed arrival, Kyah was the only dog waiting to be picked up who wasn’t whingeing or crying—just her usual relaxed self. Once she was greeted by her humans and got to her new home, Kyah was happy and curious as she explored her new surroundings.

Thank you, Jasmine, for the sweet update and photos—it’s so comforting to know Kyah is settling in beautifully. Can’t wait to hear how she grows and flourishes in her new family! 🥰

Update on Pearl and Asher 🐾💙

A week or so ago, we got a late-night call from Lindy, who needed to head to the hospital unexpectedly. With Lindy’s health in mind, my husband and I went to pick up Asher and Pearl that evening. Since then, they’ve been staying with us, and I’m so pleased to share that they’ve settled in beautifully—it’s as if Pearl never left!

Pearl is as happy and playful as ever, and it’s been a joy having her here again. She’s such a bright, sweet little soul who brings smiles all around. Asher is equally wonderful, affectionate, and loves being close. She’s taken well to the other dogs and fits right in with the whole pack.

With storm season here, we’ve learned that Asher is a bit storm-shy. She’s most at ease when safely tucked away in her cozy pen, with Pearl by her side to keep her company. Thankfully, Pearl seems unbothered by the storms, which helps keep Asher calm as well.

Lindy, I hope this brings you peace of mind! Pearl and Asher are happy, well-loved, and getting lots of attention. 💕 We’ll keep looking after them until you’re ready for them to return home.

A Scary Night for Casper

This might sound like the beginning of a creepy ghost story, but I promise it’s a real story involving Minty, now known as Casper. And not just scary for Casper but for me, too!

Last night, as I was feeding the puppies and getting them settled, Casper was acting weirdly. He’d sit and look at me when I called him, but he wouldn’t come over. After thoroughly checking him over 3 times, I finally found a paralysis tick neatly tucked in the crease of his ear.

A quick trip to Kyogle Vet last night, some anti-tick serum, and an overnight stay, and Casper is doing better. His back legs weren’t working as they should have been, but he seemed in good spirits, giving me kisses and nibbling on my fingers during the drive. We arrived at the surgery a little before our and took this photo while waiting for the vet to arrived… we both look reasonably happy, but don’t be fooled, I was a bundle of nerves. So thankful Casper’s on the mend.

A Scary Night for Casper

Today we said goodbye to Rollo, now officially named Beau, as he headed off with Lina, Kevin, and their two adorable little boys to his new home in Bangalow. It was truly love at first sight, and the family came prepared with a beautiful leather collar with a name-tag engraved with Beau’s name, plus a bundle of puppy toys—all set for their new little one.

The boys could barely contain their excitement, eager to hop back in the car and take their new best friend home. We’re thrilled for Beau and can’t wait to hear about his adventures as he settles into his forever home. And who knows—maybe Beau and his half-brother Copper will even cross paths one day for a little family reunion!

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Maria, Jack, and their two lovely daughters, who met up with me to meet Miss Maggie for the first time. Maggie is 11 weeks old today, but since her new family can’t pick her up for another three weeks, they just couldn’t wait to meet her in person! After our recent video call, they arranged this meet and fell in love with her instantly. They were so impressed with Maggie’s intelligence and sweet personality. It was such a joy to see the bond start to form—she’s already stealing hearts! 💕
